Baby product brand Munchkin hired industry veteran Kunal Thakkar as chief supply chain officer, according to a Sept. 10 press release.

Thakkar, who joined the company last month, now leads Munchkin’s global operations, supply chain, compliance, costing and sourcing, demand planning and analytics, order management, and program management functions, reporting to Steven Dunn, CEO of parent firm Why Brands.
“Munchkin has built an extraordinary legacy of innovation and consumer loyalty, and I’m excited to help build the supply chain that supports its next chapter of growth,” Thakkar said in the release. “I look forward to partnering with teams across the organization to bring greater speed, resilience, and scale to how we serve our retail partners and the families who trust Munchkin every day.”
Prior to joining Munchkin, Thakkar spent two years as CEO of Seair Global, leading the company’s transformation from a traditional freight forwarder to a logistics and technology services provider, per the release.
Throughout his more than 20 years in the supply chain industry, Thakkar has also held senior leadership roles at companies such as Walmart, Newegg, Firstleaf, UPS and Thasio. At the latter, he served as chief supply chain officer and managed more than $100 million in spend across sourcing, warehousing, transportation and inventory, according to the release. He also led a nearly 50% cut in inventory levels over an 18-month span with the owner of e-commerce consumer product brands such as Angry Orange and Vybe.
“[Kunal’s] experience scaling global, omnichannel supply chains will help Munchkin bring greater innovation, speed to market, resilience, and customer service to everything we do, while strengthening the capabilities needed to scale our direct-to-consumer business across owned and third-party digital channels,” Dunn said in the release.
The chief supply chain officer role is a new one for Munchkin, Dunn told Supply Chain Dive. The company created the role to help it grow “with the ever changing requirements of omni-channel selling,” Dunn said, adding that Thakkar will be tasked with bringing “greater speed, resilience, and scale to how the company serves” retail partners and customers.
Munchkin is looking to further expand its supply chain team following the appointment, with the specific aim of recruiting a director of global sourcing and costing, according to a LinkedIn post from Thakkar.
“This role is vital to our continued financial growth and product scalability, blending engineering cost insights with high-impact global sourcing,” Thakkar said in the post.
