Nike appointed Chief Supply Chain Officer Venkatesh Alagirisamy to the newly established role of EVP and COO as part of a larger leadership shakeup.
Alagirisamy will step into the new position Monday while retaining his responsibilities as the sneaker giant’s supply chain lead, according to a letter from CEO Elliott Hill last week. As part of his expanded duties, Alagirisamy will lead the company’s efforts to integrate technology more seamlessly into its operations.
“[Alagirisamy] and his team will now be able to look end-to-end to ensure technology is fully integrated across the company and into how we create, plan, make, deliver and sell our world-class innovations across our three iconic brands,” Hill said in the letter.
Nike eliminated its previous chief technology officer and chief commercial officer roles in parallel to creating the COO position, with CTO Muge Dogan and CCO Craig Williams leaving the company.
A nearly 20-year veteran of the sneaker giant, Alagirisamy has led the global enterprise strategy for the company’s supply chain, sustainability and Express Lane organizations since assuming the chief supply chain officer role in 2020, per a securities filing. This has included overseeing raw material sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, integrated planning and operations.
Prior to becoming chief supply chain officer, Alagirisamy served in multiple roles under the Nike banner, including as VP of global operations for Express Lane and COO of its Converse brand, per a company bio.
