Commercial real estate and investment management company JLL named Michael Raphael as its new chief procurement officer, effective April 1, per a March 28 press release. In his new role, Raphael will manage procurement activities and annual procurement spending for JLL and its clients.
Raphael has been with JLL since 2011 in a variety of sourcing roles, including chief procurement officer in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to his new role, Raphael served as global head of sourcing solutions development and operations.
Raphael succeeds Juud Tempelman as the leader of the global procurement team and will serve as a member of the global Work Dynamics board, which provides clients with strategy, technology and other services.
"As a member of the Sourcing & Procurement leadership team, Michael has built strong relationships with our suppliers and external partners," Neil Murray, CEO of JLL Work Dynamics, said in the release. "Michael is dedicated to maintaining a sustainable global supply chain and ensuring thaft all our purchases make a positive contribution to the communities we serve."
When it comes to procurement, JLL is primarily concerned with facilities-management goods and services, Raphael told Supply Chain Dive via email. That includes janitorial, engineering, landscaping, mailroom, vertical transport and other items.
"Driving savings and delivering value for our clients is the main priority for our business, and we accomplish a significant portion of that through sourcing and procurement activities," Raphael said in the release. "JLL has prioritized responsible procurement practices through sourcing ethical and sustainable products for us and our clients and through supporting and developing diverse supplier partners throughout the world."
JLL provides procurement services to more than 500 clients across 80 countries, according to the press release.
