Grocery Outlet named Scott Fremont as its new chief supply chain officer, effective this month, according to Fremont’s LinkedIn profile.
“I can’t wait to get out on the road — meeting our teams at the distribution centers, visiting our logistics partners, and spending time at stores with our independent operators who bring Grocery Outlet to life every day!” he said in a LinkedIn post.
Fremont spent nearly 18 years at Target prior to joining Grocery Outlet, holding several supply chain positions during his tenure, according to his LinkedIn profile. He most recently served as VP of global transportation, trade and logistics, a role he held for five years.
Grocery Outlet also named Jason Potter president and CEO earlier this year as part of a leadership reshuffle. During the grocery chain’s Q1 earnings call in May, Potter outlined several strategic priorities, many of which impact the supply chain.
As part of the strategic initiatives, Grocery Outlet planned to begin piloting programs targeting new sourcing strategies. To further drive supply chain efficiencies, the grocer consolidated five Pacific Northwest distribution centers to one. Potter also said it would begin operating a new distribution center on the East Coast by the end of the year.
