Supply chain leaders have all eyes on tariffs as the Trump administration’s ongoing policy changes present a cloudy outlook for the second half of 2025.
Panelists at our July 23 Supply Chain Outlook event highlighted a slew of effective solutions for navigating shifting tariff policies, some of which are relatively simple, like regularly monitoring the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
“The moment that the tariff code changes and it’s [different] across your suppliers, it gives you the chance to be more responsive and take advantage of the changes,” panelist Adam Borchert, partner at Bain & Co., said.
However, regardless of preparation, trade uncertainty is causing production output, inventory levels and hiring activity to lag — all of which are major bellwethers for the state of the economy.
Sessions at the event also provided several insights into the state of the logistics, including an overall positive market outlook and expectations for potential growth in intermodal cross-border operations driven by the the end of the de minimis exemption.
