Dive Brief:
- O’Reilly Automotive acquired a facility in the Fort Worth suburb Haslet, Texas, as its 33rd distribution center, President Brent Kirby told analysts in a July 24 earnings call.
- The 560,000-square-foot Fort Worth distribution center is slated to start operations in 2027 and expected to have the capacity to serve 350 of the auto parts retailer’s stores in the South Central U.S.
- “We are still in the early innings of development for this new DC, having just acquired the facility with substantial infill work still ahead of us,” said Kirby.
Dive Insight:
O’Reilly has been battling distribution capacity constraints in its Southeast and Eastern Mid-Atlantic region as the company continues to grow its store footprint. In the first half of 2025 alone, O’Reilly opened 105 new stores across the U.S. and Mexico. In turn, getting the Fort Worth center online is something the auto parts company is “really excited about,” Kirby told analysts.
The new facility will add capacity in the Forth Worth market while also freeing up “much needed capacity in surrounding DCs to support growth across the South Central region of the country,” said Kirby.
The auto parts company is also nearing the completion of its 530,000-square-foot distribution center in Stafford, Virginia, and plans to start transferring stores to the facility at the end of Q3, Kirby said. The distribution center is expected to begin servicing its initial store base by the end of the year, helping take pressure off existing facilities.
O’Reilly’s larger, regional facilities, including the Stafford distribution center, can accommodate up to 350 stores.
“We could not be more excited about the store development opportunities that these 2 new facilities will unlock for the company in both the largely untapped Mid-Atlantic region and in strong existing markets in the South Central U.S.,” Kirby told analysts.
