Dive Insight:
Boscov’s is gaining real-time inventory insights from its 50 store locations in nine states to better source and fulfill orders.
“By unifying how we allocate and fulfill inventory across our stores, we can keep products closer to customers, reduce out-of-stocks and deliver a smoother omnichannel experience across our stores,” Jim Boscov, chairman and CEO at Boscov’s, said in the release.
The technology from Manhattan Associates can also improve labor and capacity in stores while simplifying IT complexity and providing a unified customer experience in-store and online, per the release.
Several other retailers have also invested in different types of technology to better manage inventory processes.
Lowe’s, for example, is working with Relex Solutions and using artificial intelligence to connect forecasting, replenishment and allocation in a single AI-driven platform.
More recently, Target developed a digital twin of its middle-mile inventory positioning system to help improve inventory planning decisions for its supply chain.
